Barack Obama looked for a VP candidate who would complement his “strengths”, and found Senator Joe Biden.
Biden’s record on abortion is mixed: he voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion ban, but is in favor of Roe v. Wade (he would appoint Supreme Court justices to protect the status quo). He says he’s against federal funding of abortions, though he has come out against the Mexico City Policy, which bans federal funding of NGOs that promote abortion.
On the negative side, he’s against parental notification laws, against banning abortions on military bases, and voted for the FACE Act, which prohibits free speech near abortuaries. He also has a 100% pro-abortion rating from NARAL.
What a study in contradiction!
